Eucharist (The Mass)

SACRAMENT OF INITIATION

"This is my body." (Luke 22:19)

Jesus gave us the Sacrament of the Holy Eucharist at the Last Supper, the night before He died. He said, “This is My Body”, and “This is My Blood.” The bread and wine are changed into His Holy Body and His Holy Blood at every Mass. He gave the command “Do this in remembrance of me. At that moment, the power is given to priests to change the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Jesus.

WEEKEND MASS TIMES

St. James: Saturday 4:30pm

St. John: Sunday 8:30am, 11am, 1:30pm (Spanish)

What is the Holy Eucharist (The Mass)?

At the very center of Catholic life is the Eucharist—the source and summit of our faith. In the Eucharist, Jesus Christ becomes truly Present under the appearance of bread and wine, offering Himself for us in love just as He did at the Last Supper and on the Cross. When we gather for Mass, we enter into this great mystery of Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection, joining heaven and earth in worship of God.

"Do this in remembrance of me."

The celebration of the Mass has two main parts: the Liturgy of the Word, where we hear God speak to us through Scripture and are nourished by His truth, and the Liturgy of the Eucharist, where we offer our lives to God and receive Christ’s Body and Blood in Holy Communion. Through the Eucharist, we are strengthened to live out our faith each day.

The Mass is not only our sacred duty but also a gift of grace and communion. It unites us with God and with one another, forming us as the Body of Christ and sending us forth to share His love and mercy in the world. As Pope St. John Paul II beautifully wrote: “The Church draws her life from the Eucharist” (Ecclesia de Eucharistia). In every Mass, Christ Himself nourishes us with His presence, shaping us into His Body and sending us forth to share His love with the world.

You are always welcome to join us for Mass. Whether you come every week or haven’t been in a long time, there is a place for you here. Come and encounter Christ’s love, be renewed by His grace, and experience the joy of worshipping together as a community of faith.
