Meet Fr. Leo Morales

Welcome! Bienvenidos!
I feel truly blessed to serve as Pastor of the Catholic community in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, which includes both St. John Before the Latin Gate and St. James Catholic Churches. Every day here reminds me that the heart of priestly ministry is walking alongside God’s people celebrating their joys, sharing in their sorrows, and together seeking to grow in holiness.
I was born and raised in Guadalajara, Jalisco, Mexico, the middle of three children. My parents still live in Guadalajara, and their love, faith, and example have shaped the person and priest I am today. In 2011, I came to the United States at the invitation of Fr. David Medina, now the pastor in Tahlequah, an opportunity that opened the door to a new chapter in my vocation journey.
I have now been a priest for three and a half years, having been ordained for the Diocese of Tulsa in 2021. My ministry began as Associate Pastor at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Tulsa, followed by my time at St. Pius X Parish, where I learned so much about the beauty of parish life and the generosity of the faithful. In July of 2025, I was entrusted with the privilege of shepherding the vibrant and faith-filled communities here in Bartlesville.
In addition to my pastoral assignments, I have served as Associate Vocation Director, member of the Priestly Life and Ministry Committee, Director of Continuing Education for the Diocesan Clergy, and Coordinator of Priest Retreats and Study Days. I also serve as Chaplain for the Legion of Mary and the Oklahoma Women’s Conference, ministries that continually inspire me with the dedication and faith of so many.
My academic journey began at St. Gregory’s University in Shawnee, Oklahoma, where I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Liberal Arts, and continued at Mount St. Mary’s of the West School of Theology in Cincinnati, Ohio, where my vocation was nurtured and strengthened.
In every place I have served, I have tried to live my priesthood with joy, humility, and gratitude never forgetting that this life is a gift from God, meant to be poured out in service to His people. My hope is always to encourage others to open their hearts to God’s call, trusting that when we say “yes” to Him, He will always lead us somewhere beautiful.
